Au bistro des découvertes !#8 Robert Paquette presents Willows
Not all great talents are great stars. Discovering them, despite their relative obscurity, is a keenly felt pleasure. We gain an appreciation for our environment, capable of offering such beautiful presences. We share the thrill of a brand-new performance. We experience a moment of beautiful guidance that wants to do good, just by forging a link.
It’s in this spirit that La Slague invites you to “Au bistro des découvertes“. This intimate concert series is carefully curated, with new talent personally recommended by seasoned French Ontario artists. Our old hands on the music scene are well placed to make good musical acquaintances, and like us, the stars love to share their finds with their friends. So be one of their friends!
Au Bistro des Découvertes, you’ll come for the good atmosphere, the good food, the good music, the good company, all under the guidance of the evening’s artist godparents, to create an intimate and convivial evening with their protégés.
An initiative of La Slague, under the artistic direction of Dan Bédard.
Robert Paquette
If you don’t know his hit songs, you don’t know French Ontario. They have marked the decades while showing what a successful career could be for home-grown talent. Many have benefited from his support of our music scene. He is a pioneer, a figurehead and, in time, an illustrious grandfather. He gallantly opens the door of the Bistro des découvertes to his guest, and that’s a prize in itself.
Willows
Willows, Geneviève Toupin’s alter-ego, was born in 2014. In a delicate folk blend of acoustic instruments and vocal harmonies resonating in both French and English, the singer-songwriter creates an authentic work. The album Willows (2014) and the EP The Hills (2021), the latter produced by Joseph Marchand (Pierre Lapointe, Safia Nolin), are two evocative testimonies. Her new album, Maison vent, was released in March 2023.
