Are you an artist in song and music?

La Slague is proud to relaunch its artistic residency project, enabling emerging artists to develop an artistic project in song and/or music. For the artist, it’s a great opportunity to develop their creativity.

For this competition, we consider artists who are at the beginning or middle of their artistic career and who want to try a new project or a new artistic avenue. As well as emerging artists who have yet to deliver a “finished work”, for example: a professionally recorded album, a polished show, etc.

La Slague is looking for promising talent!

What is a residency?

A residency is in fact a supportive relationship between la Slague and the artist.

The only condition? We ask the artist to reside in Greater Sudbury, or within a 150 km radius of it. There will be mandatory one-off meetings in Sudbury, once a month, as part of the residency.

**La Slague will cover travel expenses if you do not live in the Greater Sudbury area.**

The project has two components!

The creation component

The creation component, is coaching and networking! La Slague provides professional coaching to help artists realize their artistic intentions, and polish skills that need further development and exploration (e.g. stage presence, instrumental/vocal technique, software knowledge, musical knowledge, lyric writing, musical arranging, etc.). Coaching will be provided in French and assisted by professionals dedicated to supporting the artist, and who will contribute to the production of the project.

The performance component

The performance component, means presenting two public shows and one private performance: a first meeting of the artists in front of their peers in a private listening sessions, a meeting of the public in autumn 2025 and a final performance to celebrate the evolution of the project and present it in its final version in spring 2026.

The artistic residency also means financial benefits worth over $10,000!

La Slague’s residency artists will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Payment of $1,500 for the duration of the residency
  • A development budget of up to $3,000, which covers professional fees for technical assistance and/or supplies directly related to the residency project, to call on the professional for staging, text editing, coaching, etc;
  • Professional payments of 2,000$ value for three performances as part of the residency. La Slague will cover travel expenses, if any (up to $1,200);
  • The production of a press kit: either a photo shoot and/or the writing of a biography (valued up to $1,000)!
  • A budget of $3,500 for the recording and production of a three-song professional demo, to take place in winter 2025.
