Team-building day for Carrefour francophone supervisors

On June 25, 2025, supervisors from the Carrefour francophone sites in Sudbury and Sudbury East gathered at Fielding Park for an enriching team-building day. The meeting was an opportunity to strengthen ties between colleagues and to exchange ideas on pedagogical and organizational practices.

Several members of management and administration were present, including Nicole Czaja, Paulette Larocque, Angèle Robidoux and Emilie Castilloux.

We were also pleased to welcome Laura Holloway, the City of Greater Sudbury’s new Community Educational Consultant, who will be working closely with our teams to support ongoing educational quality.

Samantha Purcell, REC (Ressources pour l’enfant et la communauté) resource consultant and loyal collaborator, was also on hand to support discussions on routines, special needs and the best approaches to intervention with children.

A great day of exchange, collaboration and inspiration!

Objectives of the day

  • Start the summer off on the right foot!
  • Strengthen team bonds
  • Get to know each other better in a different context
  • Have fun and share moments together

Course of the day

1. Ice-breaker games to start the day:

  • Colleague Bingo: A bingo card with fun or unusual facts. Participants had to chat with each other to find out who each fact belonged to, and thus complete their card.
  • Smarties game: Each participant had a box of Smarties. Each colour corresponded to a personal or fun question. Participants picked a Smartie and answered the question associated with its colour.

2. Portrait painting:

Each participant drew the name of a colleague at random and had to paint their portrait – without revealing who it was. At the end, each piece was presented to the chosen person.

It was a moment full of laughter and surprises: we discovered some hidden artistic talents… and others a little less promising!

3. Treasure hunt and kite-making :

Supervisors were divided into three teams in the Carrefour colours: red, blue and green. Using carefully formulated clues, the teams had to explore the park to find the materials they needed to make a kite: cardboard, string, tape, scissors, markers, etc. They also had to incorporate natural elements to reinforce the stability and aesthetics of their creation. Each team then worked together to build their kite, keeping in mind that both functionality and creativity would be evaluated.

Congratulations to the green team (Paulette, Laura, Andréanne and Marie) whose kite stood out for its originality and flew the longest!

Each member of the winning team received a Tim Hortons gift card as their prize.

A memorable day of laughter, collaboration and creativity – well done everyone for your energy and team spirit!
