A Fine Season With Local Flair !

We’re proud to announce the Slague’s 18th season of shows, and this year we’re offering you a fine season with local flair !

This year, we’re widening the sphere for our emerging local artists and our community’s diversity!

The theme statement for La Slague’s 2023-24 season is “Back to Our Roots.” By that, we mean Greater Sudbury’s deep and dynamic tradition of high-quality community arts. As we continue to present nationally known performers at Place des Arts, we will also be presenting more local talent and a wider variety of types of events. In short, we’re celebrating our community with a season that reflects our community’s vitality!

Come out and be a part of it!

Please note that until September 5, 2023, tickets can only be purchased with a subscription. Individual tickets will go on sale after this date.

Here's What's Coming Up :

Stéphanie Morin-Robert at the French Fest

September 23, at 8 p.m.

She gets rave reviews for her remarkable stage presence, her comic charisma and her life story of resilience as a young survivor of retinal cancer, in which her infamous glass eye plays a big role. Over the past ten years, she has conquered international audiences in English, but as a Franco-Ontarian who hails from Timmins, she now performs in her mother tongue. With nothing more than a suspended light fixture, a camera and a screen, she pulls off Angle mort (a.k.a. Blindside), an innovative, hilarious and heartwarming production combining monologue, modern dance and live video images.

Thomas Hellman Presents “Mythomane”

October 14, at 8 p.m.

His father is from Texas, his mother is from France and his performances are at the crossroads of cultures and art forms. In a genre-breaking performance that combines old-time storytelling, minimalist theatre and a folk music concert (with multi-instrumentalist Olaf Gundel), Hellman brings to life some of the world’s greatest stories, the classical myths of Western civilization, with a charming simplicity that makes them even more eternal. And as simple as that, you will learn the origins of everything: the universe, humans and gods, the passions that drive them and the destinies that await them.

Presented in partnership with the CFOF and the Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury.

Guillaume Pineault - en rodage (du petit 2e)

November 7, at 7 p.m.

He considers himself a storyteller rather than a humorist and indeed, audiences love his way with anecdotes and his unique perspective on modern life. His stand-up comedy routine is all about improbable personal experiences, where he revels in all the little details that make for comic gold. Hot on the heels of his “Show of the Year” trophy at the Olivier comedy awards gala, he’s back already with a brand-new show that pushes his wonderful talent to even greater heights.

LesTroubadours' Christmas show

November 25, at 7 p.m.

A tradition endures when it is truly imbued with life. This choir was formed almost 30 years ago ever since, it has radiated warmth and joy, nurtured friendship in harmony and wholeheartedly shared the vivid emotions conveyed by choral music. For these invigorating voices of our community, La Slague will provide a rehearsal space and will produce this year’s Christmas event. Director Stéphanie Doyle is preparing a concert that embodies both the holiday spirit and a beautiful Sudbury tradition.

Au Bistro des découvertes !

One Tuesday per month from September to December!

Not all great talents are great stars. Discovering them, despite their relative obscurity, is a keenly felt pleasure. We gain an appreciation for our environment, capable of offering such beautiful presences. We share the thrill of a brand-new performance. We experience a moment of beautiful guidance that wants to do good, just by forging a link.
It’s in this spirit that La Slague invites you to “Au bistro des découvertes“. This intimate concert series is carefully curated, with new talent personally recommended by seasoned French Ontario artists. Our old hands on the music scene are well placed to make good musical acquaintances, and like us, the stars love to share their finds with their friends. So be one of their friends!
Au Bistro des Découvertes, you’ll come for the good atmosphere, the good food, the good music, the good company, all under the guidance of the evening’s artist godparents, to create an intimate and convivial evening with their protégés.

An initiative of La Slague, under the artistic direction of Dan Bédard.

WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU!

The Solidarity Ticket Pricing Will Be Back!

For the 2021-2022 season, Carrefour francophone and La Slague are letting you decide how much to pay to attend our shows or purchase our artistic products.

Why are we doing this?

  • Because rich and rewarding cultural experiences should be available to everyone.
  • Because all of Sudbury’s Francophones and Francophiles should be welcome in a supportive and vibrant community.
  • Because belonging to a culture and the quality of life fostered by the arts are human rights

Following a number of comments and suggestions, we decided to redefine our solidarity ticketing categories to make them more inclusive and more representative of the public who attend our events.

We now opt for a “pay what you can” approach, so that our spectators feel comfortable choosing the rate that suits their current situation. What’s more, the Welcome Ticket gives new spectators the opportunity to discover our activities without judgement or compromise.

We’ll give you more news very soon!
